Two-stage home water architecture
TipaTech treats water in two places. The T-18 sits on the main incoming line. LotusDY sits under the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking water.

Side-by-side specifications for installation point, target use, minerals, filtration, power, and water use.
| Feature | T-18 (Whole House) | LotusDY (Under-Sink) |
|---|---|---|
| Installation Point | Installed on the main incoming water line to support water quality throughout the entire home | Installed under the kitchen sink as a point-of-use solution |
| Target Use | Showers, laundry, appliances, and general household water | Drinking, cooking, coffee, and food preparation |
| Mineral Adjustment | No user-controlled mineral adjustment | Manual mineral calibration feature for personalized mineral levels within a defined range (up to approximately 60 mg/L magnesium, depending on source water and configuration) |
| Water Use / Energy Use | Operates without electricity and without a continuous reject-water stream during normal operation; a periodic 20-second maintenance flush is specified | Operates without electricity and without a continuous reject-water stream during normal operation |
| Filtration Precision | Multi-stage particulate filtration down to approximately 1 micron nominal (depending on configuration and water conditions) | Multi-stage filtration down to approximately 0.007 micron nominal for LotusDY (depending on configuration and water conditions; a micron rating alone does not establish reduction of every contaminant) |
| ORP Characteristic | Not designed to modify ORP characteristics | Engineered to support lower ORP values relative to source water under suitable conditions; this describes a physicochemical parameter, not an antioxidant or health outcome |
| Hydrogen Micro- & Nano-Bubble Design | Not designed to produce hydrogen-enriched water | Designed to introduce hydrogen in micro- and nano-bubbles as a physical water-treatment feature, not a wellness or medical outcome |
Design characteristics of the whole-home T-18. The category note applies only to salt-based ion-exchange softeners.
| Feature | T-18 specification | Category reference |
|---|---|---|
| Core technology | Multiple whole-home functions in one system, including patented air-release, filtration, and salt-free scale conditioning. | |
| Gas release | Patented air-release designed to help vent undissolved gases. | |
| Mineral preservation | Designed to keep naturally occurring calcium and magnesium rather than exchanging them for sodium or potassium, depending on source water. This is not a measured retention rate. | |
| Water conditioning | Conditions water by influencing mineral behavior and reducing scaling tendency, without salt or chemical additives, depending on source water and configuration. | Salt-based ion-exchange softeners commonly condition water using salt. |
| Filtration precision | Nominal 1-micron particulate filtration, depending on configuration and water conditions. | |
| Operation | No electricity, no salt, no chemical regenerant, and no continuous reject stream during normal operation. A monthly 20-second maintenance flush is specified. | |
| Dimensions and cartridges | Height 15.35 in (39 cm). Installation width 6.53 in (16.6 cm). Cartridges are replaceable. |
*Performance depends on source water chemistry, plumbing configuration, flow rate, and installation/maintenance. Results vary. Comparisons reflect general industry categories; individual products may differ.
Design descriptions for the T-18, with category references for salt-based ion exchange and conventional reverse osmosis where those descriptions apply. Results vary by water source and conditions.
| Characteristic | TipaTech T-18 | Salt-based ion-exchange softeners | Conventional reverse osmosis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core technology | Multiple whole-home treatment functions in one system, with nominal filtration around 1 micron and salt-free scale conditioning. | A salt-based ion-exchange softener changes hardness by removing much of the calcium and magnesium and replacing those minerals with sodium or potassium. | |
| Undissolved gases | Patented air-release technology for undissolved gases. | ||
| Scale | Designed to help reduce mineral adhesion and limescale buildup, depending on source water and configuration. | A salt-based softener removes hardness minerals, including much of the calcium and magnesium. | |
| Mineral preservation | Designed to preserve naturally occurring minerals rather than replacing them with sodium or potassium. | Replaces calcium and magnesium with sodium or potassium. | |
| Hardness minerals | Salt-based ion exchange removes hardness minerals. | ||
| Selected substances and particulates | Designed to help reduce selected unwanted substances and particulates, depending on source water and configuration. | ||
| Energy and water use | No electricity during normal operation and no continuous reject stream. A maintenance flush is specified. | Salt-based ion exchange requires regular regeneration and creates a concentrated brine wastewater stream. | Conventional reverse osmosis is described as producing a continuous reject or concentrate stream. |
| Whole-home coverage | Designed to treat water entering the entire home. | Salt-based ion exchange addresses hardness minerals. | |
| Environmental impact | No salt discharge and no reject water during normal operation. | Salt-based ion exchange requires regular regeneration and creates a concentrated brine wastewater stream. | Conventional reverse osmosis is described as producing a continuous reject or concentrate stream. |
IAPMO R&T Certificate of Listing (File W-10447, aesthetic-effects category): lists T-18 for material safety and structural integrity only; certificate text notes it is not evidence of current listing and does not certify contaminant reduction.
Technology comparisons reflect general characteristics of commonly used water treatment systems. Actual performance may vary depending on source water quality, installation conditions, plumbing configuration, and system maintenance. Statements describe system design objectives and are not guarantees of specific contaminant reduction. Certifications and compliance apply to specified standards and configurations. Magnesium enrichment and undissolved-gas venting for LotusDY, with the conditions that apply to each.
| Capability | LotusDY |
|---|---|
| Magnesium enrichment | Optional magnesium enrichment up to approximately 60 mg/L, depending on source water and configuration. |
| Undissolved gases | Patented air-release mechanism designed to help vent undissolved gases from the water stream. |
*Illustrative reference only. Performance and suitability vary by source water, system design, configuration, and maintenance.
Nominal Membrane Rating: approximately 0.007 microns (LotusDY point-of-use stage).
LotusDY uses an approximately 0.007 micron nominal membrane engineered to help reduce ultra-fine particulates without chemical additives, depending on source water and operating conditions. A micron rating alone does not prove reduction of every contaminant.
No electricity required during normal operation; the system uses household water pressure to drive the filtration stages.
Results vary by source water and operating conditions. No health or medical claims.
LotusDY offers user- or installer-adjusted mineral control within documented source-water and configuration conditions.
*Results vary by source water and settings.

Intermediate positions are illustrative and are not measured concentrations.
How it works
The mineral valve is a physical calibration mechanism set during professional installation and can be fine-tuned later (such as at cartridge changes) to match local water conditions — with no electricity required during normal operation.
